There are more than a 100,000 species of mold in the world and approxiately 10,000 are present in North America. The reason for mold is for decomposing leaves, tree limbs and trees as they fall in the forest and in our neighborhoods. The leaves and trees are made of cellulose and that is where the mold is attracted and of course moisture must be present to make the whole thing start the decomposing process.
The problem is that mold can not tell the difference between cellulose in the forest or in our homes.
Some people are very senative to mold especially the elderly and the very young. The mold inspections process requires samples to be taken inside the home in each area or room and one control sampe taken outdoors.
The inside results are compared to the outside control sample and then the determination is made as to the interior mold condition. Remember that moisture has to be present for the mold to grow. Usually with that in mind, the first thing to discover is the source of the moisture. That is why we suggest a water infiltration study. Mold sampling is very expensive and should only be used to determine the effect on people in the home.
